What are the basic things needed in a home recording studio.?

Author: I want to buy my bf some things for his home recording studio. he actually hasnt started one yet. but i want to kno what are the main things needed to buy . for example a microphone. what kind? i have a low. but semi high bugdet. please explain clearly so i can attempt to buy these items. thanx
This is not a simple question and you may want to try and find out what he is planning to buy first so that you get him gear that will fit in with what he is planning to buy.
That being said…I would look into getting him a nice Large-diaphragm condenser microphone.
