i want to setup a recording studio at home…?

i want to setup a recordin studio at home. i’ve got a high end computer and i’ve actually been making beats with fruityloops; but i need to know exactly what i’d need to produce my music well.

Watch Hustle and Flow… it shows you just how to do it… lol :) no seriously…

That depends largely on what type of music you’re doing. Producing Acoustic Bluegrass for example has very different needs than producing Eloctronica. Fruity loops is good for doing background beats, but if you want to do live recordings, you’re going to need true multi track capability, and some pretty extensive editing/fx capability, also the ability to time shift can be extremely valuable if you want to do production work for radio or TV spots. I recommend either pro tools, Nero 7 or Cool Edit Pro V2.1. I have used pro tools in the past, they are pricey, but excellent, although the user interface is not quite as intuitive as some of the others. I have both Nero and Coold Edit. I use Cool Edit to do production, and Nero for burning, and occassionally fx touchups that I can’t handle on C-E. I hope this helps. Also, get a good mixer, you can find great ones for very little loot from Behringer and other makers at http://www.musiciansfriend.com
