Home Recording Studio Setup – Help?
Hey, Now I’m trying to slowly build up my home recording studio, and I’m not really sure whats next.
I have a AT2020 3 Pin XLR Mic, and a Micro Mixer.
Now I baught the micro mixer but I’m not sure if i even baught the right thing.
What I was looking for is something that sort of replaces my cruddy computer sound card.
Its always crackly and laggy and I need to be able to hear my vocals live through my headphones as I record.
I’m not looking at anything real expensive, I just need to know what to use as an alternative to my sound card, and how to hear my vocals live as I record them.
Any other suggestions for (fairly cheap) studio Equipmentt are welcome as I will be trying to build up my home studio as much as i can.
Thanks for any help, Regards
Hi. It seems like you need a good external sound card such as in Creative’s E-MU’s 0404 USB 2.0 Audio/MIDI Interface.
This product comes with the E-MU Production Tools Software Bundle that includes E-MU’s Proteus VX, as well as software by Cakewalk, Steinberg, Ableton, IK Multimedia, and many more.
With this product you get most of what you need to create, record, edit and master your music. Just plug in your microphone (with pop filter), speakers (monitors), MIDI interfaced keyboard and then attach it to your computer.
Hope that helps.
It looks like you are at a good start. Make sure to have some software that works well with audio (Samplitude Music Studio 14 is a Good one) . So with your mic make sure to get stands. Also get a shock absorber and a pop filter for the microphone. They both make the audio much better. I thinks that’s it. Contact if you need further information.
