What is the best screen recording software?

Author: What is the best screen recording software? It has to record video not screenshot. It also has to compress so it is a smaller file size but keep decent quality.
I am using this program to record my screen while I play games.
Before Total Screen Recorder, I tried like 5 different softwares(including Frag,Camstudio…) but I had many issues such as the game is recorded in the corner of the video with these program, the video is so blurry, and constant skipping on the playback of the video because the software can not record fast enough to keep up with the game.
Total Screen Recorder is an awesome software that I can use to record my game without all those annoying crap recording problems. Good Luck!

I use camtasia which has very good quality although the files are a bit big. However, I take the file and load it on to windows movie maker and publish which makes the files 1/3 the size with very little quality loss. If you use torrents u can get it free otherwise there’s a 30day trial.

Video is a broad explination only because there are so many and in so many formats.
It really depends on where the video comes from and what you are trying to do.
If you are talking about commercial DVD content then I suggest DVD FAB try it first, very few have the compression feature included in there software Roxio’s Toast versions 7-8-9-and 10 all have it. If you are using a Mac Popcorn 1-2-3 also has the compression feature.
There are several different ways to do it. but DVD FAB is the best I have ever used.

It’s open source (free!!!!). Camstudio does a great job turning avi files into swf for smoother playback and alot less bandwidth.

Hypercam. If you record a small area the file size will be reduced in almost half. An advantage of hypercam is that doesn’t use much recourses while recording.

Flash-based video file must be the smallest video file with the highest video codec compressibility. I’m not mean the FLV video because it’s not the REAL space-saving video format. You can try some screen recorders which can generate SWF video file that can be embeded in html, blog or homepage. It’s just but much more than a Flash animation. As far as I know, Democreator is one of the earliest screen recorders which allows users to make SWF screen recording videos.
