What is good starter recording equipment?

Author: Okay, so I’m in a band but have absolutely no money and absolutely no recording equipment. Not even a microphone. What is the best thing I can do to get my band name out there?
Okay, so I’m in a band but have absolutely no money and absolutely no recording equipment. Not even a microphone. What is the best thing I can do to get my band name out there? And also, as I am only 13 it is hard to play at shows… All the band members are my age. And we have a music myspace. It’s just not working well.

Any chance you get and regardless of whether you are getting paid or not. As you become good, you’ll start to develop a following. If you work hard at it, the other pieces will fall into place.

Wait, so you don’t want to buy recording equipment, because you don’t have money, but you do want your band to be known? Well, make a MySpace for your band, and add lots of bands that are similar to you. But, few people will take you seriously until you put up some even amateur recordings. You can probably buy an old 4-track recorder at a pawn shop or something, for a fairly good price.
