What all equipment is needed in a music recording studio?
Music, Recording, Equipment
Too much to make into a simple list. But the basics are something to record on to, either a computer w/the software and interface or a DAW (digital audio workstation – self contained recorder/mixer), mics for vocals, drums, amps, and other various sound sources, monitors to hear and mix with, cables, stands, headphones, etc. You also need some way to control the sound, even if it’s hanging blankets on the walls. A lot of retailer web sites have packages put together that can give you ideas. Look at www.musiciansfriend.com, www.sweetwater.com, www.ams.com. You can also go to book stores like Boarders and get recording magazines that can help. I forget the name, but they carry one that’s aimed toward the home studio crowd.
first, it would help to have a sound proofed recording room, in the recording room, u need like a 64 track recorder mixer board, with a power amp to power it, and all the cords runnin from board to microphones etc( pianos guitar) whatever u want to record

A nice little e-book that tells you all the basic equipment needed is available on Ebay for $2.50. http://cgi.ebay.com/How-To-Build-A-Home-Recording-Studio-E-Book_W0QQitemZ260123921277QQihZ016QQcategoryZ23785QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

That depends on what you plan to record. Most studios "specialize" in one or two areas. If, for example, you plan to record hip hop, you really do not need much. You need a vocal booth which you could make by converting a walkin closet. You’ll need a computer and a two channel interface to do your vocals. You’ll need a few microphones and a good mic pre. I would also suggest a program like Reason to write beats etc.
Wanna record rock music? Forget the closet. You’ll need at least 1000sqft dedicated to doing that. You’ll need dozens of microphones and a handful of good mic pre’s. Go ahead and start collecting good guitars, basses and keyboards and, if space is available, go get a really good drumset or two. If space is an issue, at least purchase two or three good snares.
Until we know what you plan to record, we can’t make any suggestions as to what you should do.
