It depends on what type of computer you have. If you have a computer that is running Windows you should try Sony Acid music studio. It is about $69.00 and it is a great software. You can find it at the link below. If you are using a Mac then you should try the Garage Band software.

Well, I don’t know if this will suit your purposes or not but for basic editing, recording, effects, fades and so on there is a freeware solution called Audacity, version 1.3 beta is out and is completely free but as I said it may not have all the features you are looking for but it is worth a look anyway.
