Make sure Track 1 …
Make sure Track 1 is set to Input 1 and Track 2 is set to Input 2. That should work!
Great tutorials it …
Great tutorials it has helped me alot. I am now tryin to overdub a bass track using one mic and a direct signal in protools. The problem is only the mic or direct comes out into the 2 tracks that i activated to record. I can’t record 2 separate tracks at the same time?

Well, the first …
Well, the first thing I’d recommend is taking advantage of your free tech support from Digidesign before it runs out. Give them a call. But also, check to make sure you’ve installed the latest drivers from m-audio’s Website and that it’s plugged in, powered on, and in Pro Tools mode (see manual for details on booting it into that mode).
Hi men , cool …
Hi men , cool videos i see you are a pro. I just bought the m audio project mix but im having problems, when i try to launch pro tools Le 8 it doesnt recognize the m audio proyect and says unable to locate digidesign hardware. im new in all this so appreciate i little help, thanxs
You can just …
You can just duplicate the original track, it’ll take over all the plug-ins etc etc, then punch in on the second track… I think that’s what I do anyway!!
i got studio …
i got studio speakers buffers… it jst dont work when the mic is in… but thanks for the info
Pro Tools doesn’t …
Pro Tools doesn’t work through your regular speakers, so that’s probably the problem. Pro Tools only outputs sound through the interface you’ve got connected (the same one you’re plugging your mic into). It should have speaker outputs and headphone outputs.
nothing! even if i …
nothing! even if i import a track a beat lets say..even if i import that i cant hear nothing, yet when i go on windows media player or youtube my speakers working fine
Great question. If …
Great question. If you have recently bought Pro Tools, call Digidesign’s tech support number. You can get your question answered for free!
Can you hear anything else? A metronome? An instrument track? If you record your voice and then play it back, can you hear it then?
i see your an …
i see your an expert i jst bought pro tools and i have a mic, and everything right i can see when im talk throught the MaleVoice but I hear NO SOUNDS..many thanks
Great point. I’ll …
Great point. I’ll have to keep that in mind for a future video!
Vocal overdubbing …
Vocal overdubbing is a little more complex than an instrument… you didn’t address how the vocalist gets original track in his headphones up until the punch-in point, then switches to monitoring himself live.
Wow, that’s a good …
Wow, that’s a good question. I’ve never had that one before. I would think so. The ProjectMix I/O transfers its control data via MIDI in the HUI format. So, theoretically, you should be able to attach it via Firewire, open Pro Tools, go to Settings, Peripherals, MIDI, and then select HUI as the control type and ProjectMix I/O from the In and Out drop-down lists.
Hi, Can you help me …
Hi, Can you help me please…… I have a 002 Rack and have just aquired a ProjectMix I/O. Can I use the project just as a control surface similar to a Command8 ? If so how would I go about hooking it up ? Many thanks for you vid’s they are really helpful

Not much. M-Audio …
Not much. M-Audio stuff is on the cheaper side, and the plasma was from Sam’s Club for under $1,000. It’s stuff I’ve bought for my business over the years or received as birthday gifts, etc.

wow office/studio wow I have never seen that. I am so jealous of your setup. You have many talents my friend best of luck
I don’t know the …
I don’t know the latency data exactly, but on my MacBook, it seems sufficient to record soft instruments. (I’ll try and record a demo and get you a better answer at some point.) The ProjectMix does allow for zero-latency direct monitoring of inputs, but that would not include effects like reverb. That would have a tad of latency since it’s coming from the software.
I use multisampled …
I use multisampled vst intruments. They are heavy on the computer. You really need a low latency to play them. I mean, you wanna hear the drum and/or string sound as you press the key. Not a sekond later. I also like hearing a reverb as I track my vocals. But I guess that’s not possible with the projectmix? since you need to monitor before pro tools in order to avoid latency? What is the latency? in milliseconds? Can you monitor afterPT8 with an effect in low latency? like reverb? thnx
That is the latest …

Thx for the video! Which MacBook do you use?

Hey, Do you need …
Hey, Do you need that M audio project mix to rerecord things after the first original track ? Could you not just (on pc/mac) create new track, then pick a place and rerecord it there?
Thanks
