We’ve learned a lot more since this video has been posted and yeah the tone in this video is very unsatisfying, but we’re planning on doing a new guitar recording video and we’ll have much better sound samples in that video.

    to get a cleaner …
to get a cleaner sound run the output of the pre-amp into a line input on your mixer. in effect you won’t get any coloration of your mixer pre amp in your tube sound. *

yup and heres a little tip, that i probably shouldn’t tell you but wtf. If you manage to find a version of ProTools on the internet, all it needs is a piece of m-audio hardware to run. So, buy an m-audio interface, and download protools for free

  • LimitlessStudios says:

An Mbox is an audio interface. It’s probably more than your looking to spend with your budget but like he said it does come with a copy of Pro Tools LE. However M-Audio also makes Pro Tools compatible interfaces as well and are much cheaper with more features but they don’t come packaged with Pro Tools.

Recently I purchased one of these ART tubemp. But I dont have a mixer. So I plug in my guitar into it and connected to my computer, however the sound sounds pretty awful. And I found out that it was my sound card problem. My friend suggested my to either purchase one of these midi keyboard with sound card, mixer and preamp. But it would cost a lot like a few hundred bucks. Or an external sound card. Any advice?

I just decided to explain it a little more. haha
One thing though. You do not want a line pre amp either :p you want no pre amp at all and use a line input with out any kind of trim. But I guess thats what you meant :D

… You do not put …
… You do not put a pre amp in t a pre amp. Even if its gained down all the way that will just bring it close to the noise floor. You put it in a line input without a gain stage… Actually if you use that external pre amp it does not need to go into a mixer at all it can go straight into the convertor.

  • A2112A says:

    No its the cost …
No its the cost trust me, i work in pro studios. The preamps in the Beringer mixers are really good, a preamp is one thing you dont go cheap on in a studio, save ur money and get one that u will actually hear a difference, makes no sense u keep replacing a preamp with another preamp

  • doulos24 says:

    the cost of the …
the cost of the preamp does not dictate when you hear a diffrence it’s the quality of the parts used. a trident s20 is founded on 5 dollar chip it costs about 1k for 2 channels that art tube mp is a starve plated tube design with a few simple 35 cent op amps driving it thus it’s worth about 40 bucks. Its proably cheaper to make the trident even though it cost almost 10 times as much but its still a better preamp

  • A2112A says:

No it wont truss me …
No it wont truss me, you start hearing difference in preamps at like 1-3k$…if ur on a budget the mixer pre amp will do, and its also about mic position and type of mic…

  • LimitlessStudios says:

    A preamp is an …
A preamp is an amplifier for the mic itself just like a guitar amp which amplify’s the guitar.
