its a device exactly like old VCRs ( video cassette recorders ), but fuctioning completely digital. it records on its internal HDD.
it has multiple inputs for S-video, and standard composite cables.

You can get providers DVRs, which are basically their receivers with an HDD that records their digital signal directly.
