Looking for digital recording equipment ideas?

My daughter is 17 and is very interested in possibly going to school for music producing. She and her friends have their own band and want to record and mix their own music. I thought this would be a good chance for her to try some of her own mixing and producing but I don’t really know much about it. I was hoping someone can give me some ideas of some inexpensive equipment I can buy her for Christmas to get her started?
Any Ideas??

A company called M-Audio make and sell just what you need. They have an M-BOX and other higher spec products that work with any computer. These allow you (with software and mics) to record digital audio and mix it and create multi-track songs (as many tracks as the computer can handle)
The important thing these do is they have Zero Latency, which allows you to listen to what you’ve already recorded (on headphones) while laying down new tracks (vocals or instruments) without any delays. Check out www.maudio.com or ebay for their products.

what recording equipment do i need to make good hip hop songs?

like the basic equipment to make good quality music?

example: midi keyboard, mic, software, ..etc.

Any technical questions, I recommend you going to the manufacturer’s sight not here.

Digidesign.com for all pro tool questions and Apple.com for all questions pertaining to Logic Pro.

You should have a basic understanding of midi set up, studio set up and drum machine programming. Engineering takes time. Ohhh you need a boat load of money too. You need to decide if you will produce via computer MAC or PC; whether you will use a hard disk recorder and mixer. This is true engineering at its best. Please search the web before investing. Great information is available. Go to your local Guitar Center and ask for assistance there…don’t buy anything because they will know you are a newbie and you won’t get the best deal. Just go for informational purposes only. Look at Sweetwater.com too. Research!!! Research!!! And more research!!! Find individuals that are into music and pick their brains….$100 can turn into $5000 overnight.

What is some good but also not so expensive recording equipment?

I’m in a two person band we just started and we’ve just been recording with a mp3 player.

Me and my friend were in the same boat. I used m-audio session, its like 40-50 bucks but it works really good. the sound quality is amazing for what it is and i can put the songs onto my ipod. it comes with an interface so you can only record one instrument at a time. I know garage band is really good too, if you have a mac book that works better.

Where can I get amateur recording equipment?

I have a Fostex multitrack recorder and though it’s stopped working, I never really knew how to use all that it really offered anyways. It was too complicated. I’m wanting to know a good place to look for old, used, affordable electronics, but I’m mainly looking for recording equipment. Tape decks, mixing equipment, etc. I just want to make music and also learn about what there is out there I can play with.

If you want an easy to use recorder that works great (I own one):

With what recording equipment I can record TV news broadcasts?

I wanted to record an upcoming TV news broadcast in which my company name is mentioned as well as an video clip of my company building will be aired. What equipment I shall use to record it live and in what format I can record it? We want to preserve this clips for our marketing department. TQ

Do you have a VCR? It’s a little quaint but it’s literally the best thing.

Pro audio recording equipment for home use?

I’m looking to upgrade my recording equipment for transfering vinyl and tapes to digital. I’m currently using Vegas PC audio software and using iTunes to convert the .wma files to .mp3. I’d like to maybe upgrade to equipment that records in real time and one where I can do seamless/gapless recordings (for live shows) and create the track cuts on the fly. I seem to always have tiny silent gaps between tracks with my current setup. I’m not rich, so I’m looking for some affordable options (definitely under $1,000). Thanks!

Spend the money get the ProTools, they always upgrade the software and you will be amazed what you can do with it.
