OK so i am sort of a beginner when it comes to recording my own music but i really need a good software. all i have is a software to record it with but not with special effects or anything like that. so what’s the best and cheapest recording software out there. one that is easy to understand too

If you have a Mac, GarageBand is a free and easy program to use. For windows, Audacity is also free, and is good for recording and minor edits. Getting into more moderately hard to use softwares, there is FL Studio. It’s one of the easiest out of all of the top music editing softwares. It’s not free, but you can find anything on the Internet for free nowadays… If you catch my drift. (; Hope this helps a little.

Cheap or free music recording software that would be comparable to Garage Band?

I have a PC and want to do a little singing/guitar covers and looking for some good software that would do the same things a Garage Band. Anyone know of anything that is good and wont break the bank?

Have you tried using Dubturbo? Its almost the same with garage bank.
Its not free but its cheap. A full version will only cost you $30.
Dubturbo is not a software for beginners but many first timers prefer to use it because it is easy to use and uncomplicated.
Many Pro’s were also using it because of its professional quality music output.
It can do dubsteps, recordings, remixes, techno, trance and etc
Tutorials and Demos are also provided when you download the software.

Im looking for a studio recording program, mainly for just vocals and acoustic guitar. Im looking for something simple that can merge two separate recordings, for instance recording the guitar and vocals separate. The price does not matter.

Audacity is a simple, free recording software. you can multi-track, mute channels etc, bog standard vocal effects etc. and its simple to get hold of, create imputes etc.

if you are looking to spend a bit of money, cubase is great, i’ve been using it for years to make full on songs and remixes. but thats if you have money, lots of time on your hands to learn, and a good enough computer to run without latency problems.

I have and Acer Aspire with Windows 7 and i really want to start recording music on it. Does anyone know of a free software/program that I can use to record my voice and upload instrumentals to (maybe even make my own beats on it but if not thats okay too). Someone please help meeee !!

Reaper. Free for a month but it is only about £50. And it is good. Or get something on Ebay s/hand. I just sold Cubasis Go! for £10. That’s adequate. Why free? You are going to have to get microphone/s, monitor speakers, sound deadening, good sound card, maybe mixer etc.
Try Ableton Live (I think you can download Lite for free)

I just got the Alesis io Dock for my iPad and I’m trying to choose the best recording app.
I have garage band but it leaves something to be desired in the way of making legitimate sounding music, ie No vocal compressor and things of that nature.
So what is better, Multitrack DAW or Meteor ?

Well first off any digital recording/editing software for audio is a DAW (digital audio workstation) system. I haven’t used Meteor but Garage Band seems pretty user friendly for beginners. There are hundreds of free plugins on the internet. I believe that Garage Band uses AU and VST plugins. Garage band does have compressors. Garage band also has more editing options and goes a little more in depth.
