Best Music Recording Software (that will sound good online) ?

I am looking to record guitar/vocals, recording in loops would be desirable. Also for Windows Vista.

I have Reason, and when I upload it online (myspace) it sounds horrible; even when I converted it through the software to the right compression for online playing it was really bad. I want a software that will sound good online..

What’s a good, free, & easy – download sound/music recording software?

I’ve been trying to record some songs I’ve written as well as some covers & I’ve used Audacity but I don’t think that it’s that good of a program. Does anyone have a better, free, downloadable program suggestion? & if that program has music making options, that’d be wonderful. Thanks [:

ok well my band and myself are looking to do some home recording and we don’t have money to rent a studio so i need to know what kind of computer software for windows will let me recored single instruments and let me put them together with other instruments. thank you for your help

Protools is pretty much industry standard. As far as cost, it’s all going to depend on how many channels you want to record at a time. For rap/hip-hop an mbox2 mini would be perfect. It has a mic and an instrument input. That is all you will need if you are only recording one thing at a time. That will cost from $2-300 and comes with protools. I also saw a package deal for that as well as a mic, stand, monitors, and cable for $400 which is a killer deal. I believe that was on musiciansfriend.com. The prices will go up from there as you add channels. You may want 4 inputs, or 8. This will cost you more. But should be able to find a decent interface that comes with good software cheaper than the above prices. Those come with protools. The other Interfaces would come with different software. Not as good, but will do the job. The beefit of protools is that most studios in the country will have it. So later on down the road you can go to a professional to have it mixed or mastered without much of a hassle. I believe I’ve even seen a small interface at Best Buy that was fairly cheap, and would get you started. Don’t forget a mic. And when it comes to mics, the cheaper they are, the shittier they are. If you pay less than $100 don’t expect it to sound great.

The best free software would have to be stolen. (j/k) The next best that I have personally used is Krystal, followed by Audacity and then Reaper.
Krystal is simple, Audactiy has a bunch of stuff you can do with it and has a huge fanbase, and Reaper has probably the most features and is well supported by its author.
Audacity is the only truly free program. Krystal is free for non-commercial use only, and Reaper is fair-priced, meaning that if you like and use it a lot you should buy it for the $50 asking price.

Audacity is good…but not really. You are extremely limited in what you can do.

Ardour isn’t free, but you can try the full version for free for as long as you like. Reaper is a very good program that lets you try the full version for a month, after that it is $60 (which is a steal). I would be cautious with free DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations), since frequently, you get what you pay for.

Also, I assume you will need some sort of interface. Many manufacturers include their DAW with their interface.

im looking to buy some good music software while also trying not to spend over $200. i saw a few were good like cakewalk and ACID but there wasnt alot of reviews. also i want software that has the ability to record music since i play the guitar. what exactly do i need to record from my guitar?

Audacity isnot that good, i want to find some type of software that is good, with clear sound, and good effects. I am just starting to record music.

It’s not what you use but how you use it..
If you can’t get a good clear sound with Audacity you won’t get it with anything else.
If I can use it to record quick multi-track band demos you should get good results too.
