Can i use beats by Dre headphones in a home recording studio?

Whenever i watch videos or read things about building a home recording studio, they always say you need headphones so you can hear yourself. So i was wondering if Dre headphones would be good enough to use, or if i needed a specific home recording kind. Anything will help thanx guys:)

Dre headphones are not the best option for a home recording studio. Sure you can use them but If you’re serious about it then you won’t. The brands I would recommend for home recording are Audio-Technica (particularly their ATH-M50), Sony, AKG and to a certain extent Sennheiser.

Those 4 brands I mentioned are used in the professional industry! If you ever go to a real recording studio, they WILL have those brands lying around. AKG might be a good selection since 80% of their headphone line are true studio headphones. Sony’s are okay and I said to an extent Sennheiser because in my opinion their only studio headphones are the HD600 and HD650. Anything else from them is more for "home use" but the models mentioned are over the price for Dre’s.

What is required for me to start a cheap home recording studio?

I would like to create, and setup a cheap, but still nice, home recording studio. All I am looking to do is record vocal, and acoustic covers, along with some keyboard covers. What am I going to need to do all this, and what is it going to cost me?

First Thing you need is money

What is a better choice for a home recording studio?

I want to start a home recording studio for mostly rapping but I don’t know what to choose. Is it best to use a laptop or a desktop? I have no idea please help!

Desktops are faster, have more memory, better sound cards, and the GPU can be upgraded to better work with new software. Laptop GPUs cant be updated and newer software might not work with it. You need to invest in a couple of terabyte hard drives to back up your system. Sound clips, samples, programs, and songs take up alot of space very quickly. Upgrade your RAM to at least 8GB.

Tip: Dont use connect your studio PC to the internet. It will never slow down and you dont have to worry about viruses screwing up your computer.
