Should I make music in my apartment or a music studio ?
How can I set up instruments in my apartment to create music?
I have very thin walls . So if i buy speakers it’ll be too loud. But I can use a headphone.
But my question is , wouldn’t it be better to use a speaker than to use a headphone while creating music?
If i move to a studio , how much would that cost. How does that work ?
Do i have to rent it or buy it ? What does the monthly rent run up to usually?
Thanks.
Get an amp that has a headphone jack.
It’s better to record with headphones anyway, so you can hear exactly what is going in.
It might clue you in to something that’s out that is going onto your recording.
does anyone know of a good free recording software for windows thats NOT audacity?
i need a good recording software and im broke. i tried audacity and it worked but the quality is not that great. please help me.
Yes, it could be your sound card or other hardware at fault but first look at how you use the program..
No audio recording program, free or not, is plug and play.
They need adjustment and variations in recording technique to get the best results.
There is no other free multi-track audio recording software which can be suggested which is better than Audacity.
What do i need for a home recording studio?
Im a beginner musician and i want a home recording studio to record vocals, and guitar and anything else, but vocals and guitar and bass are the most important but what kind of equipment do i need for that? thanks for the answers
Setting up a home recording studio is easier than you probably think. All you need is:
1. Mic Preamps – to boost the relatively weak signal from your microphone and instruments.
2. Phantom Power – if you are going to use a condenser style studio microphone.
3. A/D Converter – to take the electrical signal from your mic / instruments and convert it into a digital form the computer can understand.
4. Recording Software – to manage / mix the different tracks of your recording session.
All 4 of these can be taken care of with a FireWire Audio Interface such as this:
http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/PreSonus-FireBox-24bit96kHz-FireWire-Recording-System?sku=184133&CJAID=10381297&CJPID=3838583
From here all you need to do is select a microphone and you’re set to go. Most all Audio Interfaces will include recording software which will be fine for your needs as a beginner.
Also a hardware mixer is not required because the software will also come with a software based mixer that provides the same capability.

DIY: How to Make a High Powered Burning Blue/Violet Laser Pointer
The video shows you how to build a high powered burning violet laser (reason why it says Blue/Violet in title is because half the things you point the violet laser at fluoresce and cause the dot to turn blue)
For written tutorial go here: http://styropyro.com/tutorials/violetmodule.htm
Parts List:
PHR-803T sled-
http://www.daedallasers.com/lasers/laser-sleds/phr-803t-diode-only.html
(Use this link instead of the one in the description, this place is cheaper! This is the laser diode only so you don’t have to deal with the rest of the sled)
101mA Driver- http://tinyurl.com/dnam4q
Aixiz Module-
http://modwerx.com/shop/laser-focusing-module-for-56mm-laser-diodes-adjustable-focus-p-11.html
Helpful Notes:
For extra output, cut out the plastic on the back of the lens
This set up should yield you just under 100mW of 405nm (violet) light, easily enough to burn.
DO NOT “test” the laser diode by hooking it up to a 9v battery, if you do you will break your laser
NEVER EVER point this laser in yours or somebody else’s eyes, the wavelength of this light is more energetic then most visible light so a hit in the eye will damage your eyesight! Also do not stare at the dot from up close with out proper protection, if you stare at the dot too much when burning things your eyesight could get damaged.
Come to www.laserpointerforums.com if you need help with this, a bunch of people including me will be glad to help you out with your project.

How do i downlaod recordings off a digital recording device onto my computer?
Its made by sony and it didn’t come with a cord but i have one that works.
You did not state which Sony digital recording device you have.
Most likely you can connect it to your computer via USB and turn it on. Then look for it in My Computer. It should show up as a new device. Click on it and look for a folder that says Audio or something else. Click on that and look for your recordings. They may be numbered by time and date and will be in .wav format or Mp3 format. From there, you can copy or drag them to where ever you want to save them on your hard drive.
Need some help finding good music recording software?
What I need is:
A program to record the music in.
A "Drum Machine" to add drums to the track.
A digital sound card (USB)
Please help, and thanks!
FL Studio is a great program to use. Here’s a free demo: http://www.brothersoft.com/fl-studio-66439.html
Check out what you can do with just a MIDI keyboard and FL Studio (which comes with drum samples and FPC): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xee5u_JTVzY
You can find tutorials on youtube as well.

I really enjoyed Xewton Music Studio on the iTouch. What PC programs are similar?
My kids "stole" my iTouch and I really want to get back to creating music as I really enjoyed the experience. So, I need a list of PC programs that have the same functions. With lots of instruments and options. Please list the best software from the low end to the high end. Thanks, in advance.
Try out FL Studio. Here’s the free demo: http://flstudio.image-line.com/documents/download.html
In fact, Image-Line, the creators of FL, were/are looking into Xewton to partner with. http://forum.image-line.com/viewtopic.php?t=47244&sid=b1f09801ad1980603159e24ef40888d8
